Beijing – Philippine Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana encouraged Chinese enterprises to continue looking at opportunities in the Philippines during the Department of Tourism-led conference on 04 September 2021 at the sideles of the 8th China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) held from 02 to 07 September 2021 in Beijing.
Speaking at the event titled “the Philippines Awaits: A Conference of Services in Tourism, Business, and Agriculture”, Ambassador Sta. Romana remarked that “we aim to enhance the interest here in China for investments in the Philippines and boost partnerships and other collaborative arrangements between Filipino and Chinese businesses, as part of our continuous economic diplomacy program”.
Ambassador Sta. Romana welcomes guests to “The Philippine Awaits: A Conference of Services in Tourism, Business, and Agriculture” on 04 September 2021 at the China National Convention Center (CNCC), at the sidelines of the 8th China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS).
Ambassador Sta. Romana noted that “despite the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Embassy and the representative offices of tourism, trade and investment, and agriculture were unceasing in pursuing promotions in China.”
In their presentations, Tourism Attaché Erwin Balane stressed the importance of keeping the Philippines in the minds of the Chinese travellers as tourism remains pivotal in the Philippine economic landscape; Commercial Counsellor Glenn Peñaranda highlighted investment opportunities and policies supporting foreign investments in the country particularly in the digital technology and solution; while Agriculture Counsellor Ana Abejuela emphasized agriculture services in the manufacturing chain where potential investors may be interested.
The Philippine-led side event was attended by representatives of various companies in China in the fields of aviation, travel and leisure, information technology, and agriculture.

The PDOT-Beijing spearheaded the establishment of a Philippine National Pavilion at the CIFTIS showcasing the country’s tourist destinations, trade and investments opportunities, and agriculture products. Visitors also had an opportunity to interact with representatives from Philippine partner agencies and network at the pavilion. END.
