Secretary Locsin Calls On Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan

19 March 2019 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. called on Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan in Beijing on 19 March 2019 to begin his first Official Visit to China.

Vice President Wang reaffirmed China’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with the Philippines through cooperation for common development on the basis of mutual understanding and mutual trust. The Vice President, a stalwart of the Chinese Communist Party, traced the history of China’s development and emergence into an economic powerhouse.

Secretary Locsin expressed admiration for the hard work and talent of the Chinese people, which are the foundation of China’s phenomenal economic development.

Also present during the meeting were Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and the Philippine economic managers, led by Finance Secretary Carlos G, Dominguez, who are in China for the Philippine Economic Briefing.

The economic managers briefed Vice President Wang on the progress of Philippines-China infrastructure cooperation. END
