03 December 2018 - The Philippine Embassy in Beijing launched the 1-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women through the screening of the film "Bagahe" at the Embassy's Sentro Rizal.

In his opening remarks, Minister and Consul General Ivan Frank Olea mentioned the active participation of the Philippines in the global community in raising awareness of each and every individual, and having concerted efforts in preventing violence against women, achieving gender equality, and empowering women all over the world. He further noted that 30 November is a Philippine national day that celebrates one of our national heroes, Gat. Andres Bonifacio who valiantly fought for Philippine independence.

The movie '"Bagahe" is about a former Overseas Filipina Worker who is being implicated in a crime that occurred during her return and is brought by authorities to Manila to prove her innocence. Zig Madamba directed the movie which has won awards locally and internationally.
