Ambassador Sta. Romana with the Filipino community on 02 November 2017 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Mongolia Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana met with the Filipino Community in Ulaanbaatar on 02 November 2017. He told them, “Talagang minabuti ko po na maglaan ng panahon upang makipagkita sa inyo unang-una ay dahil nais ko pong personal na makita ang kalagayan ninyo dito at makinig sa inyong mga saloobin. Pagkakataon natin ito upang marinig ang nais ninyong iparating sa amin. [I really took time to meet all of you because I want to personally see your condition and listen to your sentiments. This is our opportunity to listen to what you wish us to know.]”
In his remarks, Ambassador Sta. Romana expressed hope that with the improving relations between the Philippines and Mongolia, Filipinos in Mongolia would continue to lead by example in their profession, as well as portray the beauty of Philippine culture. He encouraged them to be united, especially in their goal to help each other.
Ambassador Sta. Romana added, “nawa’y batid ninyo na pinapahalagahan ng ating Pamahalaan ang kapakanan ng ating mga OFWs. Kami sa Pasuguan ay hindi nakalilimot na pagtuunan ng pansin kayong mga nandirito sa Mongolia. [I hope that you know that our Government puts great importance to the welfare of our OFWs. We at the Embassy never forget to give recognition to those who are in here in Mongolia.]”
Ambassador Sta. Romana acknowledged the efforts of Philippine Honorary Consul to Mongolia Selenge Lkhagvasuren in attending to the needs of the Filipino community and in coordinating with the Mongolian authorities to promote the welfare and defend the rights of Filipinos.

Ambassador Sta. Romana commended the officers and members of Pinoy Mongolia, who have been assisting Honorary Consul Selenge and attending to the needs of fellow Filipinos in Mongolia.

Sixteen (16) Filipinos attended the gathering, through the coordination of the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Mongolia and Pinoy Mongolia. Filipinos in Mongolia work as priests, missionaries, teachers and professors, household service workers, nannies, engineers and hotel and restaurant staffs. END.
