03 August 2017 - On 02 August 2017, Ambassador Jose Santiago L. Sta. Romana welcomed the "Witness Friendship" 2017 Summer Home and Abroad News Press Junior Journalist delegation to the Embassy. Ms. Wei Yan, President and Chief Information Officer of the Home and Abroad News Press, led the delegation composed of 18 young journalists from different provinces.

The young journalists had a 50-minute interview with the Ambassador. During the interview, Ambassador Sta. Romana shared his experience living, studying and working in China for over 20 years, starting as a campus journalist, then working as a translator and later a journalist for an international broadcasting company. He also shared the various programs the Embassy is undertaking to enhance the Philippines' relations with China through cultural cooperation, education and sports exchanges, people-to-people interactions and tourism projects.

The Home and Abroad News Press Junior Journalist Summer Program brings students from different parts of China to visit Embassies and international organizations and interview Ambassadors and other foreign leaders.
