Ambassador Sta. Romana Presents His Credentials to President Xi Jinping
Philippine Ambassador to China, Jose Santiago “Chito” L. Sta. Romana, presented his Letter of Credence to Chinese President Xi Jinping on March 17, 2017 at the Great Hall of the People.
31 March 2017 BEIJING — Philippine Ambassador to China, Jose Santiago “Chito” L. Sta. Romana, presented his Letter of Credence to Chinese President Xi Jinping on March 17, 2017 at the Great Hall of the People.
President Xi congratulated Ambassador Sta. Romana and took note of the Ambassador’s experience and familiarity with China, which according to the Chinese President is important in fostering the bilateral relations.
Recalling their previous meetings, which he said “made good strides” in improving the bilateral ties, President Xi also conveyed his personal greetings to President Duterte and expressed his eagerness to again meet the Philippine President in the near future.
Ambassador Sta. Romana assured President Xi that the Philippines “treasures very much the friendship between the two countries” and reiterated President Duterte’s invitation for the Chinese President to visit the Philippines.
President Xi urged both countries to forge closer ties and interactions and expressed his hope that the economic cooperation between the two countries will soon bear fruits, that the relations will continue to progress, and that mutual trust will be developed. He added that while the relationship may have its ups and downs, “we need to cherish this relationship.” END
