PHL Embassy in Beijing Hosts the ASEAN Ladies Circle Tea Gathering
26 September 2016 – Chargé d' Affaires, a.i. Elizabeth T. Te of the Philippine Embassy in Beijing led the ladies of the Embassy in hosting the tea gathering of the ASEAN Ladies Circle (ALC) in Beijing on 23 September 2016 at the Embassy's Sentro Rizal.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Te emphasized the importance of the ALC Tea Gathering as an important opportunity to deepen friendship and strengthen ties among ASEAN ladies. She also recalled that on 08 September 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte received the ASEAN chairmanship from Laos and noted that the theme for the Philippines' chairmanship is "Partnering for Change, Engaging the World". The Embassy then presented two (2) videos, the "Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN" and ”Visit ASEAN @ 50."
Mr. Lonel Duenas Tapulgo, Ms. Jennifer Gallardo and Ms. Ju Hahzcel Palcutan, Filipino musicians based in Beijing, sang "Pinoy Ako," "Piliin mo ang Pilipinas," and "Tara na Biyahe Tayo." The songs' lyrics were presented in powerpoint with English translations, as the singers performed. At the request of the audience, the singers also sang "All of Me" and ”Anak" when Philippine refreshments were served.

The Embassy served "Siningang na Hipon", "Bistek Tagalog", and "Chicken Lumpia, as well "Ginataang Halo-Halo", and fresh fruits for desserts.

As the ladies depart the Embassy, they were each given a bag of dried mangoes, post cards and key chains as souvenirs.
The ALC Gathering is a monthly get-together of lady ambassadors and diplomats, and wives of ambassadors and officers and staff of the ten (10) ASEAN Embassies in Beijing.END.
