PHL EMBASSY IN BEIJING COMMEMORATES THE 49^TH ANNIVERSARY OF ASEAN

In observance of ASEAN Week, the Philippine Embassy in Beijing played the national anthem followed by the ASEAN Anthem on 12 August 2016.

In her welcome remarks, Chargé d'Affaires, a.i. Elizabeth T. Te cited the relevance of observing ASEAN Week and informed Embassy personnel and family members of the Philippines’ chairmanship of ASEAN next year on its 50^th Anniversary.

Minister and Consul Ivan Frank M. Olea provided a background on the establishment of ASEAN, briefly discussed the opportunities in the region arising from the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community and provided a summary of the remarks delivered by Secretary of Foreign Affairs Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr. during the 49^th ASEAN Day Diplomatic Reception, which was held in Pasay City on 8 August 2016.

After the seminar, Embassy personnel and family members enjoyed a simple dinner consisting of beef caldereta, chicken galantina, ginataang bilo-bilo, and coffee cake.
