PHL Embassy in Beijing holds film screening of "heneral Luna" in celebration of the 118th Anniversary of phl Independence
04 July 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Beijing, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts - Sentro Rizal Secretariat and TBA (Tuko Film Production, Buchi Boy Entertainment and Artikulo Uno Production) Production, successfully screened the movie "Heneral Luna" to celebrate the 118th anniversary of Philippine Independence with members of the Filipino community.
In her remarks, Chargé d' Affaires, a.i. Ms. Elizabeth T. Te recalled the theme of the 2016 Philippine Independence celebrations, "Pagkakaisa, Pag-aambagan, Pagsulong" and expressed hope that the sacrifices made by our heroes would serve as an inspiration to all Filipinos to continue giving importance to the freedom we enjoy today. She said that each Filipino is called to contribute to the noble goal of inclusive and sustainable development.

Ms. Daphne O. Chiu, Line Producer of "Heneral Luna", said the movie is considered a "game changer" in Philippine film industry, considering that the film is an independent movie, and yet is currently the highest grossing film about history in the record of Philippine cinema.
In keeping with the celebration of Philippine Independence, the Embassy served Filipino dishes - chicken adobo and pinakbet - for dinner after the film showing. END.
