PHL Embassy in Beijing holds film screening of "Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo" to celebrate the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of PHL Independence & the 41st Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between PHL and China
04 July 2016 – The Philippine Embassy in Beijing, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts - Sentro Rizal Secretariat and TBA (Tuko Film Production, Buchi Boy Entertainment and Artikulo Uno Production) Productions, successfully screened the movie "Bonifacio: Unang Pangulo" to celebrate the 118th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and the 41st Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and China.
In her remarks, Chargé d' Affaires, a.i. Ms. Elizabeth T. Te emphasized that ”the Philippines values its relationship with China." She stressed that "the Philippine Embassy looks forward to realizing the full potential of bilateral relations to strengthen and enhance long-standing ties through cooperation in various fields.”
In his response, Deputy Director General Bai Tian expressed China's readiness "to take the friendly hand," noting that Chinese President Xi Jinping sent messages of congratulations to President Duterte. He also said that China and the Philippines are close neighbors, and "friendly stable relations is the right way," which requires "joint efforts from both sides."

Ms. Daphne Chiu, Line Producer of "Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo," noted that the international cut of the award-winning film screened for the first time ever in Beijing, China.
The event was graced by Chinese officials, selected members of the diplomatic corps, friends from the Filipino and Chinese community and media. The Embassy served, among others, chicken adobo and San Miguel Beer, to allow its guests to savor the flavor of Philippine hospitality. END.
