Philippine Embassy in Beijing Attends the Opening Ceremony of ASEAN-China Week
ASEAN Ambassadors in Beijing and Embassy representatives join Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou and ACC Secretary General Yang Xiuping in the ribbon-cutting to formally launch ASEAN-China Week.
24 May 2016 - Embassy representatives attended the Opening Ceremony of ASEAN-China Week held on 23 May 2016 at the ASEAN-China Secretariat.
The Opening Ceremony featured an Exhibition of Chinese paintings of ASEAN National Flowers, made by Chinese painter He Shuifa, and presentation of a painting of their respective national flowers to each ASEAN Embassy, followed by a reception. A painting of the sampaguita (60cm x 97 cm) was presented as a gift to the Philippine Embassy.
In her opening remarks, ACC Secretary General Yang Xiuping expressed appreciation for the support received by ACC from the ASEAN Embassies. She further expressed the ACC’s commitment to deepen exchanges between ASEAN and China and to further promote cooperation in various fields.
On behalf of ASEAN countries, Ambassador Vandy Bouthasavong of Lao PDR delivered a speech. She said ASEAN-China relations cover various aspects, among which are trade and investment, tourism, education, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges. She congratulated ACC for its active role in pursuing projects that contribute to strengthening relations.
ASEAN-China Week, organized by the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), is being held from 23 to 30 May to commemorate the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations. END
