On the occasion of the Davao Cultural Festival, Ambassador Erlinda F. Basilio hosted lunch for China-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) Chinese Secretariat Executive Director-General Xu Ningning at the Marco Polo Parkside Beijing Hotel on 12 September 2013.
Ambassador Basilio introduced Mr. Xu to Filipino cuisine, prepared by Filipino chefs, Gene and Gino of the famous Café Ysabel. Special song and dance performances were presented by the highly-acclaimed Kalumon Performing Ensemble.
During the lunch, Philippine Embassy officials briefed Mr. Xu on the different flavors of Filipino food, as well as tourism and investment opportunities in Davao. Ambassador Basilio and Mr. Xu exchanged views on ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and China, particularly in the areas of trade, investments, two-way product marketing, and China-ASEAN cooperation.
Ambassador Basilio and Department of Tourism (DOT)-Davao Chief Tourism Operations Officer Ms. Eden Josephine Larano-David then extended an invitation for Mr. Xu to visit scenic Davao.
