In recognition of the efforts of Peking University Filipino Studies Department and China Radio International (CRI) Filipino section in promoting deeper understanding between the Philippines and the Chinese mainstream audience and youth, Philippine Ambassador to China Erlinda Basilio opened the official Ambassador’s residence to the young people of both institutions in a formal dinner of thanks.

Ambassador Basilio acknowledged the tireless effort of Peking University Filipino Studies Department in deepening cultural understanding through their quiet and selfless work, including translations into Chinese of Filipino films and classic Filipino myths and legends for children, and the invaluable role of CRI Filipino section in arranging for the interview of the Loboc Children’s Choir and an hour long feature on Philippine food on national Chinese radio.

 

The young Chinese students and broadcasters of CRI Filipino section were treated to a sumptuous Filipino dinner, consisting of pork liempo, beef kaldereta, fish steak, chopsuey, and Filipino-style macaroni soup.
