BEIJING, 13 June 2025 —The renowned Loboc Children’s Choir performed to an audience at the Cultural Palace of Nationalities Theatre in Beijing, a historic 742-seater that has hosted numerous state and international performances.

The event was organized by the Philippine Embassy in Beijing to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Philippines-China relations.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jaime FlorCruz said, “Tonight, we celebrate the centuries of people-to-people ties, through a medium that has long connected our peoples—music.”

The concert, entitled “Golden Notes,” brought together members of the diplomatic corps, Chinese government officials, business leaders, local residents, and the Filipino community in China. It was organized in partnership with Liwayway Co., maker of the popular brand Oishi.

“Music transcends borders. It speaks to the soul without need for translation. It is a powerful bridge that connects cultures, conveys emotions, and nurtures friendships. The angelic voices of the Loboc Children’s Choir bring not just the melodies of the Philippines, but the spirit of a people who, like our Chinese friends, value harmony, family, and the beauty of shared traditions,” Ambassador FlorCruz said.

The choir performed a curated repertoire of traditional and contemporary Filipino and Chinese songs. They also sang a rendition of “Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin” (The Moon Represents My Heart), translated to Filipino by Ambassador FlorCruz.

Founded in 1980, the Loboc Children’s Choir emerged from a desire to participate in the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA), which it won in 1993, 1995, and 2001. Since then, the Choir has earned acclaim on prestigious stages and in music festivals around the world.

Liwayway is the Filipino multinational company behind the snack brand Oishi, which is now a household name - Shanghaojia - across China.
