BEIJING, 09 June 2024 – “Kumustahan sa Pasuguan: 126th Independence Day and Migrant Workers Day Celebration” was held at the Embassy grounds as part of the national day celebrations for the members of the Filipino Community in Beijing 09 June 2024.
The program was kicked-off with a singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by the delivery of the opening remarks from the undersigned who took the opportunity to introduce the administration’s Bagong Pilipinas campaign.
In his speech, the undersigned recognized the Filipino migrant workers as the country’s modern-day heroes who are the new flag bearers responsible for showcasing to the world Filipino excellence, valor and hard work. He likewise echoed the call of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to encourage them to be agents of transformation in mind, in words, and in action, to become “Bagong Pilipino para sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
He likewise emphasized the partnership between Filipino citizens and each individual’s rights and respective responsibilities, including the responsibility to exercise one’s right to suffrage. In connection, he encouraged those present to avail of the Embassy’s Overseas Voters Registration facilities which was also open on the day of the event.
The successful event was attended by around 250 participants, both Filipinos and foreigners, and featured booths and exhibits of Filipino foods, products, and arts, as well as cultural performances from Filipinos in Beijing. Indigenous Filipino games were also organized especially for kids in order to familiarize them more with the Filipino culture. A raffle draw was also held with prizes sponsored by Post’s usual partners. END
