The Philippine Embassy in Beijing organized the “2023 Simbang Gabi para sa mga Kababayan,” a Catholic Mass held in the spirit of this cherished Filipino Christmas tradition, on 16 December 2023.

Members of the Filipino Community in Beijing joined the gathering, which was celebrated by Father Rey Emmanuel, a Filipino priest based in China.

After the Mass, Ambassador Jaime A. FlorCruz delivered the welcome remarks, underscoring the role of Overseas Filipinos in facilitating people-to-people exchanges between the Philippines and China.

Guests likewise partook in a simple reception, featuring various dishes and especially “puto bumbong” which is a Filipino purple rice cake traditionally sold during the Christmas season. //
