12 December 2023, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia — The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Beijing with concurrent jurisdiction in Mongolia and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of the Philippines in Mongolia hosted a reception in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the Philippines and Mongolia on 12 December 2023 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. This is the first reception organized and hosted by the Philippines in Mongolia since diplomatic relations were established on 11 October 1973.

An estimated 100 guests from the Mongolian Parliament and different Ministries of Mongolia, diplomatic missions, businessmen, and some members of the Filipino community attended the milestone event.

Philippine Non-Resident Ambassador to Mongolia Jaime A. FlorCruz emphasized in his remarks that the Philippines will work with Mongolian partners to boost trade and investment and seek collaboration in agriculture, mining and other sectors, and will endeavor to promote even more people-to-people exchanges, especially in education, culture, public health and tourism.

The guest of honor was The Honorable Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, who highlighted the value and contribution of Filipinos in Mongolian society, adding that the Mongolian government is dedicated to protect their legal rights and ensure their well-being while working and living in the country. He mentioned that the two countries can work closer particularly in the fields of education, agriculture, infrastructure, information and communication technology, and renewable energy, and further stated that Mongolia seeks to deepen its engagement with ASEAN to contribute to peace, stability and sustainable development in the region.

The reception featured Philippine cuisine, arts and culture, showcasing adobo, sisig, Original Pinoy Music (OPM), and samples of Philippine exports – dried mangoes, banana chips, tsaa, and coconut oil-based products.

The Philippine Embassy in Beijing has been actively engaging Mongolia in advancing bilateral relations. In November 2023, Ambassador FlorCruz presented his Letter of Credence to H.E.Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, President of Mongolia, at the State Palace in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. END
