08 September 2023, XIAMEN, FUJIAN PROVINCE, CHINA – Philippine Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China H.E. Jaime A. FlorCruz met with university officials of the School of International Relations/Research School for Southeast Asian Studies of Xiamen University on 08 September 2023 and expressed his gratitude for the University’s support and active cooperation with the Philippines.
“Achievements following Xiamen University’s joining in the ASEAN+3 University Network (AUN) in 2007 and signing of intercollegiate exchange agreements with eight (8) top Philippine universities are indeed remarkable,” Ambassador FlorCruz emphasized.
Xiamen University has established student exchange programs with the University of the Philippines, Ateneo De Manila University, De La Salle University, Lyceum of the Philippines, University of the East, Centro Escolar University, Philippine Normal University, and University of Asia and the Pacific.
Noting that the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, headed by Consul General Ma. Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena, has active engagements with Xiamen University, Ambassador FlorCruz hoped that Xiamen University would cultivate more talents that can become the standard of educational exchange between the Philippines and China. “May there be more joint research initiatives, student exchanges, and faculty mobility programs that will foster greater cross-cultural understanding and promote knowledge sharing among our institutions,” Ambassador FlorCruz stated.
The visit to Xiamen University was conducted following the Philippine delegation’s participation at the Opening Ceremony of the 23rd China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) held at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Centre on 08 September 2023. “I personally requested for this activity to have active and productive engagements with the faculty and, more importantly, the students of Xiamen University, following my participation in this year’s 23rd CIFIT in Xiamen,” Ambassador FlorCruz said.
