The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines received 15 Filipino students who paid a courtesy call last 13 September 2023 at its chancery in Beijing.

The students are recipients of a three-year scholarship grant from Jiuquan Vocational Technical College (JVTC) in Gansu, China, where they will major in various fields such as electrical engineering and renewable energy studies. They are fresh graduates from different high schools in Nueva Ecija, Bataan and Tacloban.

Ambassador Jaime A. FlorCruz welcomed the scholars and had a discussion with them about life in China for overseas students. He shared tips and advice drawing from his own experience as a foreign scholar in China back in the 1970s.

Ambassador FlorCruz and the scholars exchanged thoughts about learning Chinese, adjusting to Chinese social customs and giving back to one’s community back home.

After their brief stop at Beijing, the scholars headed to Gansu to start a new chapter in their lives as college students.
