28 June 2023 BEIJING, CHINA – The Philippine Embassy, together with the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR), jointly led the bamboo planting activity and launching of the “Philippines-INBAR Friendship Bamboo” at the Philippine Embassy grounds on 28 June 2023.
As one of the founding members of INBAR, the Philippines actively participates in INBAR’s programs in support of the organization’s goals and objectives. Recognizing the significance and useful applications of bamboo and rattan as strategic resources that support sustainable development and drive green economy action plans, the Philippine Embassy in Beijing spearheaded the planting of bamboo at the Embassy’s garden, with the bamboo plants symbolizing the active and robust relationship between the Philippine Embassy and INBAR.
Ambassador Jaime A. FlorCruz and INBAR Director General Ali Mchumo led the ceremonies. Participating during the event were the Consuls General of the Philippine Consulates General in China; namely, Minister and Consul General Dinno M. Oblena (Beijing), Consul General Raly L. Tejada (Hong Kong SAR), Consul General Marshall Louis M. Alferez (Guangzhou), Consul General Josel F. Ignacio (Shanghai), Consul General Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo (Chongqing), Consul General Porfirio M. Mayo, Jr. (Macau SAR), and Consul General Ma. Antonina M. Mendoza-Oblena (Xiamen).
