BEIJING, 23 February 2023 – His Excellency Ambassador Jaime A. FlorCruz presented the open copy of his credentials to Director General Hong Lei of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China on 23 February 2023.

During the short ceremony, Ambassador FlorCruz first handed over the Letter of Recall of his predecessor Ambassador Jose Santiago “Chito” L. Sta. Romana, his dear friend and respected colleague who died in April 2022 in the line of duty while working to promote deeper understanding and friendship between the Philippines and China.

When presenting his credentials, Ambassador FlorCruz stated, “It is now my honor and privilege to present to you my credentials as the new Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the People’s Republic of China.” DG Hong expressed his congratulations to the new Ambassador.

Ambassador FlorCruz brings with him years of China expertise, having lived, studied and worked in the country for more than four decades. He was a veteran journalist who held the distinction as the longest-serving foreign correspondent in China until his retirement in January 2015.

The Ambassador was joined during the occasion by his wife Mme. Ana Elena S. FlorCruz, Consul General Dinno M. Oblena, and Attaché Franz Louis V. Alfonso.
