Beijing, China - The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines is pleased to announce the arrival of His Excellency Jaime A. FlorCruz in Beijing on 14 February 2023 as the Philippines’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the People’s Republic of China.
Officers from the Philippine Embassy in Beijing as well as officials from the Protocol Department of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) received Ambassador FlorCruz and his wife, Mme. Ana Elena S. FlorCruz, at the airport.
Ambassador FlorCruz brings with him years of China expertise, having lived, studied and worked in the country for more than four (4) decades. He was a veteran journalist who held the distinction as the longest-serving foreign correspondent in China until his retirement in 2016.
Ambassador FlorCruz is also a prolific writer of China-related topics both within and beyond his career in mass media. In 2022, he published his book titled “The Class of ’77,” which chronicles his personal experiences in China. The Philippines and China established diplomatic relations on 9 June 1975. Cooperation between the two countries has since expanded into many different fields such as trade and investment, agriculture and tourism. Philippine and Chinese leaders maintain high-level exchanges as seen recently in President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s state visit to Beijing last January 2023.
