14 September 2022, Beijing, China – The Philippine Embassy in Beijing participated in the “2022 ASEAN-China Fair” at the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) last 14 September 2022 and showcased “Filipino merienda” to over 100 guests from other ASEAN Embassies, Chinese Government and other local partners.

Along this theme, the Embassy served Filipino desserts or snacks (namely maja blanca, biko and banana chips) together with hot kapeng barako at the Philippine booth, which they adorned with piña fabrics and other Filipino cultural symbols. At the event’s opening ceremony, Embassy personnel performed a rendition of “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan” by National Artists Lucio San Pedro and Levi Celerio.

Participants and guests observed local COVID-19 health protocols to ensure the safe conduct of the event.

The ASEAN-China Fair is an annual gathering in Beijing co-organized by ASEAN Embassies, the ACC Secretariat and the Chinese Government in order to highlight ASEAN and China’s cultural diversity through local delicacies and performance art.
