19 August 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Beijing welcomed young Chinese students and their teachers and guardians for an immersive learning experience about the Philippines and the Filipino culture under its cultural diplomacy program titled “Ni Hao, Philippines.”

The students, called “Little Chinese Digital Culture Ambassadors,” were taught about basic facts about the Philippines, its national cultural symbols and its UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They were given an individual writing activity using the ancient Filipino script “baybayin” in line with the commemoration of ‘Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa’ or National Language Month. For group presentation, they were asked to think of different ways on how to invite their friends in China to come and visit the Philippines. The children likewise delivered individual and group performances that showcased their singing and speech choir abilities.

Addressing the children, the Embassy’s Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Mr. Dinno M. Oblena expressed hope that the participants would remember their learning experience under this program when they have the opportunity to visit the Philippines in the future.

“Ni Hao, Philippines” is a flagship cultural program of the Philippine Embassy in Beijing for young Chinese students.
