2017 FOREIGN SERVICE OFFICER (FSO) EXAMINATION

The Philippine Embassy wishes to inform the Filipino community in China that pursuant to the provisions of the Foreign Service Act (RA 7157) of 1991 and the Revised Administrative Code of 1987, the Board of Foreign Service Examinations (BFSE) will conduct the Qualifying Test for the 2017 Foreign Service Officer (FSO) Examination on 21 May 2017.   

Applicants for the examination must be knowledgeable on the economic, political, and social conditions of the Philippines, and must possess not only facility in oral and written communications but the personality traits essential to the performance of the duties of Foreign Service Officers. They must also be willing and able to accept assignments to any post where their services may be required.

The qualifications are as follows:

1. The applicant should be a natural-born Filipino citizen and a permanent resident of the Philippines.

2. The applicant should not be more than thirty-five (35) years of age on the day of the Qualifying Test which is 21 May 2017.

3. The applicant should be a holder of at least a four (4) year bachelor’s degree or higher (submission of relevant evidence is required, i.e. transcript of records, diploma etc.)

4. The applicant should have been employed or undertaken further studies at least two (2) years after graduating from college or university.

5. If married to a foreigner, the applicant must secure from the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, through the Board of Foreign Service Examinations, authority to take the FSO Examinations.

6. If applicant has dual or multiple citizenships, he/she should submit a notarized affidavit stating that upon passing the examinations, he/she intends to renounce his/her allegiance to all of his/her other countries of citizenship; he/she must also submit a notarized affidavit stating that he/she is a permanent resident in the Philippines.

Interested applicants may submit their completed application forms to the Philippine Embassy, 23 Xiu Shui Bei Jie, Jianguomenwai, Beijing 100600, on or before 29 March 2017.  A non-refundable fee of PHP 500.00 will be charged per applicant.

The final determination of the applicant’s eligibility to take the Qualifying Test rests on the BFSE.
