2016 International Day of Persons with Disabilities
In 1992, the United Nations declared December 3 as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
In order to generate greater public awareness and improve understanding on the plight of persons with disabilities, for them to achieve the future they want relative to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) [link: http://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/sustainable-development-goals/] and have a dignified life that will allow them to grow and flourish, the United Nations has adopted the theme “Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want” for this year’s observance of IDPD.
In support of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2016 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Philippine Embassy informs Filipinos in China that the Philippines has adopted the theme of “Disability-Inclusive Sustainable Cities and Communities” for the 2016 IDPD.
