2015-2024 AS CIVIL REGISTRATION AND VITAL STATISTICS (CRVS)
DECADE IN THE PHILIPPINES
The Philippine Embassy wishes to inform the Filipino community in China of the signing by President Benigno Aquino III of Proclamation No. 1106 on 20 August 2015 declaring 2015-2024 as Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Decade in the Philippines. Proclamation No. 1106 enjoins all agencies and instrumentalities of the national government and local government units, in consultation with the private sector, development partners and citizenry to actively support all activities and programs relevant to “Get Every Pinoy and Pinay in the Picture”. The Civil Registration and Vital Statistics framework aims to get every Filipino registered in its system by 2024.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), formerly National Statistics Office (NSO), is the agency mandated to carry out, enforce and administer civil registration functions in the country, with the assistance of relevant government agencies, including Philippine Embassies/Consulates which are tasked to perform civil registration functions.
Registration of birth, marriage and death of Filipino nationals should be reported to the Embassy within 30 days from the date of occurrence. Civil registration provides data which is essential in development planning in the government. It also provides basis for proof of age to exercise rights such as the right to vote, to drive, to study, to marry and to insure claims.
The Philippine Embassy therefore wishes to encourage every Filipino in China to report/register his/her key life events (birth, marriage, death) which occurred abroad.
The Filipino community is also advised to check their civil registry documents from PSA to know if the vital events have been duly registered and to find out if there are any errors that need to be corrected.
