GUIDELINES ON FINANCIAL DONATIONS FOR

VICTIMS OF TYPHOON “OMPONG”

(INTERNATIONAL NAME: MANGKHUT)

The Philippine Embassy in Beijing informs the public who wish to provide financial donations to the victims of Typhoon Ompong (international name: Mangkhut) of the following:

• The Embassy shall provide details of bank accounts of government agencies and institutions authorized to receive cash donations.

• Donated funds received by the Embassy shall be acknowledged through official receipts.

• Donors may indicate the intended recipient of the donation (e.g. Local Government Unit, Non-Governmental Organization, etc.).  If there is no stated recipient, the donated funds will go to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) by default.

• Since there is no call for international assistance for the time being, donated goods shall be subject to regular taxes and duties pursuant to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act / RA 10863.

• The Filipino community is cautioned to donate only to bona fide organizations.
