The Philippine Embassy in Beijing reminds everyone to be cautious in their online dealings and transactions, especially when sending money to those they have not met personally.

• When making online purchases or transacting online with suppliers, always check suppliers’ details and verify suppliers’ track record.  For those already dealing with long-time suppliers, if there is a sudden notification to change procedure or to send remittance to another account, call your contact first to verify information before making any payment.

• Exercise caution in using any dating website.  If your online partner requests you to send large sums of money for whatever reason – to pay for hospitalization needs or to pay off airport detention charges – check with the authorities concerned (e.g. hospital, airport authorities) to verify the information. 
  
  

Online scams continue to victimize the unsuspecting and well-meaning.  A few minutes of caution can save you months and years of misery. Please be careful.

• 慎重使用社交网站。如果您的网友以任何理由要求您给他汇去大额款项-- 支付住院所需或支付机场滞留收费-- 请与有关部门核对(如，医院、机场当局)验证信息。 

       网络诈骗一直以毫无戒心及好心人为受害对象。几分钟的谨慎可以使你免受数月或数年的痛苦。请多加小心。
