The Philippine Embassy joined 70 other Embassies, international organizations and local companies on 15 September 2012 in Chaoyang Park, Beijing for the much-anticipated and well-attended Annual International Charity Sale, “Love Knows No Borders” organized by Mme. Le Aimei, wife of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.
The proceeds of this year’s charity bazaar are earmarked for the project, “Lifeline Express, a Mission of Light”, wherein four (4) hospital eye-trains travel around China to provide treatment to cataract patients from underdeveloped provinces in the country.

A small elite group of buyers also went to the fair just to buy coco sugar, which they said they regularly use for their drinks and cooking, and had previously asked friends returning to the Philippines to bring to Beijing for them.
As in previous years, Philippine dried mangoes sold out within the first hour. Local and foreign visitors to the Philippine booth also admired the quality, design and craftsmanship of Philippine handicrafts like hand-made jewelry and high quality home décor items.
There was a strong demand for ice cream at the fair, especially for mango ice cream. Given the continuously growing number of Chinese travelers to the Philippines, it is not surprising that many Chinese are familiar with the fine quality and exquisite flavor of Philippine ice cream made from top-grade ingredients.

First Secretary and Consul Rhenita Rodriguez and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Lily Ann Cheng turn over the donations from the Philippine Embassy to the event organizers.
